If possible, the best thing to do is to avoid travel. Stay home and bring your pets indoors. If you must go out, take care walking and driving, and watch for icy branches or wires and debris. You should also:

  • Turn off appliances and leave one light on if you lose power
  • Use battery-powered lights and glow sticks - avoid candles
  • Never touch downed power lines
  • Monitor media or social media for updates
  • Check on friends and neighbours, especially if they are vulnerable
  • Never use BBQs, camp stoves, or fuel-powered heaters indoors
